13. MATERIAL DESCRIPTION
is an aggregate for the manufacture of light-weight concrete, with thermal insulating and sound proofing properties.

is composed of expander Polystyrene beads, coated with a petented additive that applies genetic engineering technology. This changes the surface tension of the beads so that they repel each other, but are attracted to the cementious paste. When the beads are added to cement, water and sand, the induced charge disperses the bead quickly throughout the mixture. always remains homogeneous and stable in all thicknesses regardless the tickeness of the product. reaches 92% of itīs final strength in just seven days, compared to regular concreteīs curing time of 28 to 29 days.

is mixed with cement in different proportions, water and sand, producing a light-weigt insulating concrete of excellent quality, with properties suitable for any type of construction.

Concrete mixed with has many advantages:
  • Itīs low cost
  • Itīs weighs 1/5th to 1/8th less than the weight of traditional concrete
  • Itīs can be pumped 42 stories with conventional equipment, with wear and tear
  • It has excellent thermal insulating properties, insulates up to 30 times better than regular concrete
  • Itīs high sound resistance, 39 dB adsorbed in a 2.8" thichness
  • Does not transmit vibrations (perfect in seismic active areas)
  • Due to itīs flexibilidad, reduce cracking and has excellent impact resistence
  • Fireproof
  • Non-toxic
  • Usefull life equal to any traditional concrete
  • Waterproof, 3% to 5% absorption
  • May be used with or without reinforcement
  • Not vulnerable to attacks by rodents, termites or parasites
  • May be nailed, drilled, screwed intro without previous drilling and anchor set
  • Can be cut with a hand saw or disc-grinder
  • You can work with it using traditional tools
  • Saves on transportation costs
  • Less on equipment (due to light weight)
  • Impervious to mold, swelling and other damp and cold conditions associated with normal concrete
  • Resists punching shear, because of itīs final coat
  • Can support more than 568 lbs/in" (psi)
The mechanical characteritics of the concrete are linked to the regularity of the flexibility of cement. For an aggregate to be considered good quality, the following are essential: Itīs chemical stability, itīs grading and low water absorption.

, being perfectly round, waterproof and chemically stable, it is considerated best possible aggregate in the market.

The elasticity of absorbs expansion and contraction caused by charges in temperature. is a material used as an aggregate to produce light-weight concrete, consisting of Polystyrene spheres with a determined grade of temperature, which are coated with an additive, that has the pulpose to increase the adherence of the Polystyrene and cement paste or matrix, and the workability of the concrete.

is integrated to a conglomerate of cement, sand, water, and other aggregates (if necessary), in different proportions, thus producing a important characteristics from the point of thermal insulation and sound-proofing.

  • Great versatility and flexibility in application
  • It can be used strictly as high insulation concrete fill or a structural element with load carrying capabilities or any combination in between.
  • Establisher track records on many past proyect with a sound engineering testing program behind it.
  • Monolithic nature constructions provide superior structural load paths and distribution of external forces, creating redundancy and economical structural systems
  • Superior fire resistence
  • Superior thermal insulation
  • Superior acoustic properties and noise attenuation
  • Construction, using standard industry methods without "learning curves"
  • Accepts varios architectural finishes, incorporating a wide variety of materials in the market that can be applied directly to the surface
  • All material can be produced and manufactured locally
  • Specialized structural analysis and design required due different strength and material properties versus normal concrete
  • For thicker building elements, a low heat cement or fly ash should be considered, to help reduce heat generated within the mass

Based on the above analysis, along with European testing and application results, we believe that the construction system offer several diferent advantages over other construction methods for certain types of construction, including one and two story family dwelling, and other type of buildings, where fire related and other fire-safety issues are considered.

Although has many advantages, it is NOT RECOMMENDED in heavy structural applications, without proper engineering.
